Ariana is one of three female playwrights featured at the Dramatists Guild Fund in support of the Women’s Voices Theater Festival
In response to the call of the Washington DC-based National New Play Network for organizations across the country to participate in its second WVTF, the Dramatists Guild Fund will celebrate plays being written by women in a full day of readings on January 20, 2018. Three female writers - Ariana Johns, Christine Toy Johnson, Lisa DeSpain - presented a selection of their works. Ariana will presented a reading from her work-in-progress with composer Darryl Curry, the new musical comedy A Stroll with Troll, as well as songs from their musical BUZZ, Son of a Bee at the DGF’s Music Hall.
WE RECENTLY COMPLETED A 2 WEEK ENGAGEMENT of BUZZ, SON OF A BEE...an actor's life for me at The Sargent Theatre (American Theatre of Actors), during which we raised funds for several bee conservation organizations.

Did you hear the buzz...? We'll be presenting songs from Buzz, a vibrant new musical about actors' dreams... and realities, at ACA Galleries in Chelsea on Thursday, February 11th from 7pm to 10pm. Art! Music! Free food & drink! Bees!!!

MONDAY, JULY 27th @ 7 pm: Ariana will be singing selections from BUZZ at The Episcopal Actor's Guild, 1 E.29th St., with Darryl Curry at the piano, as part of the EAG Cabaret night. Evangeline Johns will also be singing. Suggested donation: $15. All proceeds go to help actors in need.
SATURDAY, MAY 23rd: Ariana, Michael Citriniti, Evangeline Johns, Gigi Neil and Perryn Pomatto sang selections from BUZZ at the 20th Annual LES Festival of the Arts, at Theater for the New City! 9:08 pm in the Johnson theater. FREE!

STAY PRETTY by Ariana Johns is a dark comedy set in the East Village, NYC circa 1990. The action revolves around four characters in their late 20's/early 30's whose lives crash together with hilarious and disturbing consequences. Featuring Noni Connor, Evan Enslow, Ariana Johns and Rebecca Janisch, directed by Ariana Johns.
VOICES FROM THE FRINGE: Each year at this time playwright members of the Woodstock Fringe Playwrights Unit invite friends and colleagues to hear staged readings of new work developed in the workshop. This year 10 playwrights (and one composer) will share their work in four readings. Please join us and hear our new work. Refreshments will be available. The readings are offered free of charge. Reservations are not required. All readings start at 7:00pm and take place at: Community Room at Westbeth 155 Bank Street, Greenwich Village

BUZZ...Son of a Bee! Join us at The Theatre at St. Clement's, 423 West 46th Street, W. of 9th Ave, sponsored by The Peccadillo Theatre Company. BUZZ is a comic, sometimes poignant musical about actors and their ability to believe in anything, if it'll get them on stage. From lost Shakespeare to vulture bees, BUZZ jumps headfirst into the world of the Theatre. Think Mickey & Judy in a Pirandello Wonderland, with lots of laughs and hummable tunes!
With lyrics by Ariana Johns, music by Darryl Curry, and book by Andrew Johns, the cast featured Michael Citriniti, Ariana Johns, Evangeline Johns, Greg Mullavey, Gigi Neil, Wallace Norman, Addison O'Donnell and Perryn Pomatto, and was directed by Andrew Johns, choreography by Dale Harris, with Darryl Curry at the piano.

After the success of our reading at The Dramatists Guild (despite a psychotic thermostat that set the room temperature to 'bake'), we garnered lots of raves on our FB page (posting some here), AND we were invited to perform the entire musical as a staged reading at The Peccadillo Theatre's beautiful venue, The Theatre at St. Clements!
